Ultrasonic Blind Cleaning
Blinds are an excellent window treatment...until they need to be cleaned. With so many intricate pieces and parts it can be hard to know if you really got your blinds clean or not. At The Blind Guys we now offer ultrasonic blind cleaning, an easy and effective way to get your window treatments cleaner than ever before.
What Is Ultrasonic Shade Cleaning?
Whether it’s been a bit of time since your last blind cleaning, or you just enjoy immaculate blinds, ultrasonic cleaning is for you. The process involves a tank with a special cleaner that uses ultrasound frequencies to produce microscopic bubbles that expand and collapse very rapidly. These implosions clean delicate items safely, effectively and efficiently. The more delicate the item the higher the frequency will need to be. The process is also known as “acoustic cavitation.”
Benefits
Blinds and shades for your home are a sizable investment, but any exposed area is a collector of dust, allergens and other irritants. Sometimes, when shade cleaning seems impossible, window treatments are simply replaced. This is not only bad for your bank account, but it’s bad for the environment as well.
What is Removed?
The ultrasonic method of cleaning blinds removes dust, dirt, nicotine, bacteria and any other substance that does not belong on your window treatments. Thoroughly cleaning your blinds can significantly improve the air quality inside your home and reduce allergy and asthma symptoms.
A Safe and Eco-Friendly Choice
You will not risk any cuts or bruises from trying to clean between slats, nor will you expose yourself to dangerous solvents. The solutions used for shade cleaning are recyclable, do not create any greenhouse gases, and do not pose a hazard to the environment.
How Long Does It Take?
When compared to the time it takes to clean window blinds by hand, the few minutes needed for an ultrasonic cleaning seems impossibly quick. The process cleans all areas, including hard-to-reach spots. The total time usually takes less than 20 minutes, depending on the number of contaminants to remove, and the size of the blinds. It is by far the most effective and efficient cleaning solution for blinds when optimal cleaning solution, cycle time and water temperature are used.
Why Do I Need a Professional?
Along with the safety risks that come from trying to clean your own blinds and the knowledge that you can only clean it so well, you also don’t want to risk damaging your costly window treatments. Our team can make sure that your window coverings are completely cleaned without any risk to you or your space, and you don’t have to worry about damaging your window treatments. We have it covered! Trained professionals know how long to keep your items in the ultrasonic cleaner to prevent cavitation erosion or damage to the material that occurs when it is left in the solution after cleaning has finished.
Shades and Wood Blinds
Fabric shades and wood blinds are unable to be immersed in the cleaning solution of an ultrasonic machine. Shade cleaning is a matter of regular maintenance. Fabric collects dust, dust becomes dirt and dirt turns into discoloration and stains, so regular removal of dust is a must. Use your vacuum’s brush attachment once per month on the lowest suction setting and move it around the surface of your shade in an “S” shape. Wood blinds should also be dusted regularly using a soft cloth and a small amount of wood oil to condition the slats.
Spot Cleaning Fabric Shades
In a perfect world, your shade cleaning will be limited to routine dust removal. Unfortunately, spills and stains do happen, and you must act quickly when they do. Use a cleaning solution of a couple drops of dish soap diluted in tepid water to prevent weakening the fibers or discoloring the fabric. Use a sponge dampened with the cleaning liquid to blot the spot and repeat as needed. Finish by blotting with a sponge dampened with clean, tepid water and allow the air to dry. Avoid using any sources of heat as heat will set the stain if it was not fully removed.
Deep Cleaning
If your shades have accumulated too much dirt or a stain large enough to make spot cleaning impossible, deep cleaning is your next solution. This can be a difficult process, so you may want to reach out to us to help out. If you are in need of deep shade cleaning, we can handle that, too.
